Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and maintain tools to meet IT and business unit requirements
  • Develop best practices for infrastructure as code and infrastructure automation
  • Partner with IT teams to analyze operations and identify automation opportunities
  • Partner with software engineering and application release teams to support deployment processes
  • Regular monitoring of deployed solutions for performance, availability, and/or security issues
  • Regular review of deployed solutions for functional enhancements, increased automation potential, and function viability
  • Regular R&D to evaluate and implement enhanced development practices and toolsets
  • Work and communicate at a technical level with vendor support services to troubleshoot issues
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all job functions for use as reference material


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience in more than one scripting/programming language to automate IT operations in a Microsoft enterprise environment (i.e. PowerShell, Python, C#, etc.)
  • Experience working in an agile development environment
  • Working knowledge of orchestration products and tools (i.e. VSTS, Puppet, Chef, ADO)
  • Working knowledge of cloud-based solutions (i.e. SaaS, PaaS, IaaS)
  • Working knowledge of health monitoring tools and integration with self-healing operations
  • Working knowledge of centralized systems administration in an enterprise environment.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP including sub-netting, and routing principles
  • Working knowledge of network supporting services (i.e. DNS, DHCP, SNMP)
  • Working knowledge of enterprise security
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft enterprise products (i.e. Active Directory, SharePoint, Exchange)
  • Working knowledge of enterprise networking (i.e. routers, switches, firewalls)
  • Conceptual understanding of databases and database queries
  • Demonstrated skills in technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated analytical, deductive reasoning and troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrated organization skills
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Ability to interact with personnel on all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work independently or as a member of the team
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing
  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and multi-task with minimal supervision
  • Ability to research future hardware/software technologies


Education, Training and Experience:
  • 5+ years performing infrastructure administration in a medium size corporate network-environment
  • 3+ years professional experience with automation scripting or software development
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related professional experience


Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • The ability to communicate and understand the spoken word are important as well, for example:
  • Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word.
  • Ability to receive detailed information through verbal communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
  • Ability to receive detailed information visually through written communication (both physical and electronic).
