Mainframe Architect:
Responsibilities
  • Acts as technical expert on these applications when interfacing with other teams, both internal and external, and senior management.
  • Partners with Business and internal upstream/downstream IT teams to evaluate complex requirements to Design , develop and deliver strategic solutions as well as defining a strategic roadmap to modernize the applications.
  • Identifies appropriate technical solutions that provide business value while mitigating technical debt and designs system requirements for complex software development projects.
  • Engages in high level break/fix support during Production Firecall scenarios and assists with Production issues when higher level analysis is required.
  • Works within an Agile scrum team framework. Taking stories and tasks through sprint, participates actively with product backlog refinement, daily standup and bi-weekly sprint boundary meetings.
  • Reviews application vulnerabilities, assigns resources for remediation (including CAST and DAST)
  • Ability to think strategically and tactically, with effective decision-making skills.
  • Ensures adherence to organizational policies, guidelines and processes
  • A positive goal orientated attitude with a focus on delivery

Mandatory Skills
  • Hands-on experience in various mainframe technologies (COBOL, JCL, CICS, MQ, PL1, FOCUS, ASSEMBLER) and code versioning tool SCLM
  • Deep understanding of database and technologies in the industry including, RDBMS, SQL, BI tools (IDM Data studio, SOAPUI) and performing tasks related to database design, data analysis, data quality
  • Knowledge of project management methodology, effective communication, influencing, and organizational skills, must possess initiative to accomplish tasks and make decisions.
  • Knowledge of full software development lifecycle
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Serves as a resource or "go to person" within a group
Experience
  • 8- 10 years of solid, diverse work experience in all aspects of systems programming, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Experience and understanding of Agile and DevOps methodologies and frameworks
  • Provide guidance and direction to teams on technologies and the right way of doing things and acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
