The Lead Data Architect develops and monitors and oversees the standards, tools, and logical designs and information management strategies necessary to store, move, deliver, transform and manage data in a new target state or an existing state. The Lead Data Architect is a data technology thought leader. Provides leadership to other data architects. Leads the creation of data architecture and data projects with moderate to large resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Works within high limits and authority on assignments requiring high technical complexity and coordination.Key Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:Has specialized subject matter expertise in CNO data domain. Develops future state data direction and technologies. Leads architecture and data architects to deliver enterprise data architectures on multi year, and multi million dollar projects. Creates and determines overall modeling standards, guidelines, best practices and approved modeling techniques. Oversees the creation of all conceptual, logical and physical data models. Lead the data architects and the data administration team (modeling, metadata managers and user query optimization). Ensure that data modeling practices and guidelines are followed in order to avoid physical model bias. Ensure that solutions meet business requirements Reviews proposed data models contained in packaged or commercially available applications before they are bought. Participates in data integration, business intelligence (BI) and enterprise information management programs by rationalizing data processing to support reuse. Works with data services administrators to develop the data objects and data models to support data services in service-oriented architecture. Collects and identifies the various metadata assets.Identifies the data assets that are deemed significant to the enterprise, as determined by the business impact, decision impact, risk mitigation or organizational impact of the information. Models the future state of the data architecture and provide data architecture best practices and guidelines. Establishes metrics for tracking and measuring the value of data architecture initiatives. For example, measuring model reuse, impact on project costs or improved data consistency across diverse initiatives. Ensure that critical information assets modeled as part of any project are represented in the enterprise information architecture (EIA) and follow the design guidelines and requirements of EIA.Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:Deep understanding of core enterprise data concepts and technologies: warehouses, ETL technologies, OLTP data stores, multiple RDBMSs Solid grounding in enterprise data architecture principles and techniques. In-depth knowledge of data architecture, integration, and databases. Ability to lead others in achieving common design Proven system analysis experience Ability to lead and communicate across all levels of the business to support common goals and approaches. Strong ability to lead business analysts and data stewards to assess if the model is fit for use. Strong ability to balance short-term vs. long-term and strategic vs. tactical requirements while moving forward with overall vision. Ability to define and execute the data strategy and vision in alignment with Business goals. Strong ability to collaborate with Integration Architects, Solution Architects and other Data Architects to support common goals and approaches. Strong ability to collaborate with Systems or Data Analysts and Data Stewards to assess if the data architecture/model is fit for use. In depth knowledge of conceptual, logical and physical modeling, especially for rationalizing data objects. Strong system analysis experience. Ability to lead information architects, content architects, data architects and support common goals and approaches to achieve alignment. Most often interacts within immediate business area or subfunction, and some VPs. Strong planning and organizational skills; strong time and resource management skills. Has a strong understanding of the latest developments or changes of market conditions in the industry. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and other business-related software.Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree, in a related discipline, or equivalent; Master’s preferred. Typically has at least ten years of related work experience in data architecture, with demonstrated progression in responsibility. Experience leading technical teams is preferred. Experience in Conceptual, logical and physical data modeling, especially for rationalizing data objects. Experience working as a member of large integrated teams solving multi domain problems. Experience interacting with and influencing executive audiences CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional), CDP (Certified Data Professional), or CBIP (Certified Business Intelligence Professional) certifications preferred. Microsoft Azure Cloud exposure such as PowerBI, Azure Analysis Services, Data Factory, Azure Sql Database, Azure Synapse
