Job Description

The

Manager, HSCT and Cellular Therapies reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Manager, HSCT and Cellular Therapies, in collaboration with the Medical Director and the Program Manager, holds authority and 24-7 accountability for management of the Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Program (HSCT), including ongoing and new business initiatives, and program development. The Manager assumes responsibility for translating the department and hospital objectives, policies, and procedures into effective action at the unit or service level, and maintains quality standards of care, practice and service. The Manager has direct oversight of the Northwestern Myeloma and Stem Cell clinics as well as the inpatient Advance Practice Provider (APP) service.

Responsibilities:

  • Establishes, implements, and monitors the program’s capital and operating budget to achieve defined targets.
  • Recruits and retains qualified staff consistent with the program and organization’s human resource plan.
  • Communicates regularly with the Medical Director, entire team and fosters a collaborative environment.
  • Develops and monitors program’s quality plan to achieve and maintain defined quality goals.
  • Develops and maintains systems for the responsible use of all hospital resources.
  • Management of APP performance evaluations, daily workflow, troubleshooting
  • Management of Post-Transplant RN staff performance evaluations, daily workflows
  • Clearly identifies the internal and external customer(s) for the program and their respective requirements/expectations.
  • Actively seeks methods of concurrent and retrospective feedback from customers, listens to customer feedback and implements solutions and/or interventions as appropriate.
  • Translates organizational vision into the program’s vision that engages staff to contribute to and achieve that vision.
  • Provides daily, just-in-time feedback to improve performance and self-esteem of staff.
  • Tracks coaching discussions and actual performance of staff to ensure accountability.

  • Assures that all regulatory requirements are met.
  • Assures all pertinent standards are met to maintain FACT accreditation.
  • Collaborates with finance and managed care departments for contract negotiations.
  • Develops and implements strategies to support volume growth and enhance revenue.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Illinois
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to plan, organizes, and directs the activities of others.

Preferred:

  • Master of Science in Nursing or Master's in Business Administration or Master's in Health Administration
