The User Experience team at Backstop is a diverse group of designers who are interested in designing solutions that solve real problems for our clients in a way that makes them fans of our digital platform. We believe in measuring our results by our client’s success and the enthusiasm they display for our products. The User Experience team is looking for a Sr. User Experience Architect. As a Sr. User Experience Architect, you have the opportunity to use your knowledge of user-centered design principles to translate user needs, business objectives, and technology capabilities into user experiences that create compelling solutions for our clients. Our User Experience Architects are multifaceted and possess expertise across the following UX disciplines: Interaction Design, Information Architecture, Product Strategy, Experience Strategy and User Research. Data Strategy You will drive the strategy for our data platform through a deep understanding of our customer needs. You will be the subject matter expert for data quality, data integration, data availability and how customers can use our data to support their business needs.
Information Structure
You will champion the thinking around our platform’s information architecture by leading the discussion on how to make data easier to digest and understand in our applications. Through an understanding of our client’s existing mental models you will adapt and clarify the structures of our platform’s information systems. You will own the responsibility to collaborate with the product team in order to understand, translate, review and establish requirements into logical data models, interface specifications, taxonomies and metadata schema.
Data Visualization Patterns, trends and correlations that might go undetected can be exposed and recognized easier with data visualization. You will be responsible for ideating and defining projects that leverage and champion visualizations. Partnering with product management and engineering you will be architecting and managing visualizations tools that enable our clients to quickly uncover interesting patterns and relationships in their data.
Required Experience:Traits for success
Knowledge of accessibility methods and standards, WCAG, or section 508 compliance guidelines and experience incorporating standards into designs.
You successfully contribute to early stage discovery and product definition by developing an understanding and definition of users, framing the problem, evaluating current state experiences and areas of competitive disadvantage, designing concepts and models. You plan and conduct user research, user testing, and other activities that bring user feedback into the product design process.
You are strong in creating and delivering UX documentation (user personas, experience maps, interactive and static wireframes, prototypes etc.) to support the design and execution of a range of projects.
You have experience shipping products and know what it takes to get something from idea to reality. You can handle input, ideas, and feedback from lots of different teams and deliver designs that achieve objectives for everyone.
You know how to scope time and effort involved in projects. You are able to work within a highly collaborative environment to estimate and negotiate the user experience that is defined on the scope or product vision.
You enjoy mentoring others in how best to approach problems, solicit feedback and drive for impactful outcomes.
You can articulate a vision and evangelize the value of UX to the broader business through lunch & learns, workshops, and other activities.
BA/BS (MS/MA preferred) in Human Computer Interaction or equivalent work experience.
You must be able to provide a portfolio showing
Work that demonstrates your process and the ability to communicate informed design rationale and value.
Experience taking ideas from execution to implementation
