Job Description:Role Summary/Purpose:As Synchrony’s VP, Risk Data Governance Oversight Leader, you will be responsible for leading the oversight of Synchrony’s overall Data Management program.

Focus will be on the oversight of the data strategy, compliance with the data management standards across the data domains, business processes and functions

Lead the execution of Synchrony’s risk management oversight process for Data Management within Synchrony

Provide independent oversight to the governance process for our restricted data (in support of Data Privacy and Data Protection efforts) and to the outbound Data Sharing Process

Responsible for the creation, maintenance and oversight of the Risk Reporting Standard, Data Governance Framework and Operational Risk Assessments related to data and information management

This position is remote, where you have the option to work from home. On occasion we may request for you to commute to our nearest office for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and culture events. We’re proud to offer you choice and flexibility.Essential Responsibilities:Develop and maintain relationships with business leaders, analysts, IT architects, data stewards, the data office and other stakeholders to deliver on the oversight plan

Execute the risk data management framework, with a focus on oversight to improve data quality and trust through adoption of data management policies, standards, and procedures

Oversee and deliver/share the organization’s data management risks and capabilities to the appropriate committee or risk leader

Ensure oversight and accountability for stewardship of the company’s data assets and oversee the execution of the Data Management Program

Serve as a support liaison to ensure that data related requirements are clearly defined, prioritized, and well understood by process owners and stakeholders in the Universal Risk Assessment process

Create and maintain risk data management policies, standards, procedures, job aids and training aids for various data management oversight processes

Influence and partner with Process and Functional Owners to help them address operational risk issues, related to data, through adoption of data management controls provided by the Data Management organization

Provide support to the Chief Data Office with training and functional support across the organization to drive positive results from Synchrony’s governance of the methods used by data stewards and scientists handling data. Data governance's primary goals are to increase consistency and confidence in decision making, decrease the risk of regulatory fines, improve data security, designate accountability for information quality, enable better planning by staff, minimize or eliminate re-work, and maximize staff effectiveness

Perform business analysis and process challenge, overseeing issue completion

Work collaboratively and provide working challenge to Chief Data Office teams, ensuring consistency of approach and business benefit

Ensure successful completion of all work executed by the team (on time, on budget, and ensuring quality)

Ensure the company is in compliance with the data management programs and the Chief Data Office processes and standards

Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of Risk Management, Credit or Data Management Program experience or in lieu of a Degree, a high school diploma and 9+ years of Risk or Data Management Program experience

5+ years of experience managing a team

3+years of experience working across various business functions on various projects

Eligibility Requirements:You must be 18 years or older

You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).

The salary range for this position is 100,000.00 - 200,000.00 USD AnnualSalaries are adjusted according to market in CA and Metro NY and some positions are bonus eligible.Grade/Level: 13Job Family Group:Risk Management
