Founded in 2009 by Nicole and Stephan Outrequin Quaisser as a single concept, named after the couple’s two children Luc and Mary. LM Catering & Events include the Back of House operation at Hilton Orrington-Evanston, City View Loft, Kitchen Chicago, Lacuna Events by LM, LM Studio, and Twenty-Six Event venue and Sky on Nine.

The menu highlights dishes made with fresh, local and seasonal ingredients. The beverage program focuses on local and regional products given the restaurants commitment to limit their carbon footprint. Diners can expect to find an affordable selection of unique American made wines, a variety of local beers and craft cocktails. The spacious bar area is perfect for enjoying cocktails and dinner after a day exploring the city and the private dining space with views of the open kitchen is ideal for intimate special events. In the warmer months guests can enjoy the large patio along Michigan Ave. The bistro is currently open daily for breakfast and lunch and dinner. Happy hour specials are available Sunday-Thursday, and the popular mimosa brunch deal is offered daily.

Job Description

LM Restaurant Group is looking for a talented Bartender to join our growing team at Grant Park Bistro. The primary goals of this position will be responsible for providing prompt, professional and friendly guest service to restaurant & bar guests always and helping the team do the same. If a manager isn't present, the Lead server takes responsibility for all staff and help staff resolve any issues a customer encounters during their time with us.

What will I be doing?

As a Bartender, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

Must practice a full hands in-full hands out approach.

Responsible for preparing, mixing, and pouring any alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages.

Responsible for having a strong food knowledge base as well as a very detailed understanding and memorization of the current menu items which include all alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks as well as food and specials.

Must actively use creative upselling techniques to sell our products.

Must be proactive in effectively selling beer, wine, liquor, and food to guests sitting in the dining area.

Communicates all necessary and important information with the General/Restaurant Manager(s).

Capable of multi-tasking and working at a fast but thorough pace.

Attends the daily pre-shift meeting to learn any important daily information as well as any other scheduled staff meetings.

Have comprehensive wine and liquor knowledge and adheres to all state liquor laws.

Ensures that all state health regulations are being adhered to.

Cash & credit card handling.

Must be enthusiastic and interactive to help portray a friendly, fun, and exciting bar environment.

Responsible for cocktail batching when needed and keeping accurate inventory and dates.

Responsible for making syrups/infusions and working with the Lead bartender/Restaurant manager to keep an accurate inventory.

Basic communication skills in English

Other Duties & Tasks

Must be able to stand for 8+ hours.

Ability to carry heavy trays.

Ability to lift-up to 20 pounds regularly and 50 pounds on occasion.

Ability to walk, stand, kneel, reach, climb, balance, stoop, push, pull, lift, grasp, bend, twist, squat, and do repetitive motions regularly throughout shift.

Ability to work in hot and cool conditions.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to stay calm under pressure.

Well groomed, professional appearance

Qualifications

2+ years prior experience as a bartender required.

Food Handlers, Allergens certifications within 30 days of employment.

High School diploma/GED (preferred)

Must be customer-service oriented and have excellent hospitality skills.

Ability to work flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays.
