Develops, performs, maintains and improves Argonne’s Radiological Protection Program training initiatives for Argonne radiological workers and health physics staff (e.g. technicians, health physicists, etc.), particularly in regard with the Advance Photon Source Upgrade (APS-U) project. Provides technical expertise and participates in operational activities in support of his/her functional area(s); including but not limited to APS-U. Supervises health physics technicians which includes scheduling, assigning daily work, and reviewing completed work. Will work in close cooperation with APS Health Physicist and Chief Health Physics Technician to develop APS specific training, including release protocols, neutron activation potential, and commissioning studies. Reports to the HP Trainer/Health Physicist.Education and Experience RequirementsRequired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Associate's Degree and 7+ years of related experience or equivalent

Knowledge of health physics and radiation protection theory and practice, the measurement and analysis of ionizing radiation and radioactivity, radiation protection standards, emergency response, and contamination control practices are required.

Knowledge of and skill with radiation monitoring and equipment.

Knowledge and practice of As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA).

Experience developing radiological training for radiological workers and radiological safety professionals desired.

Experience in a customer service environment is required.

Ability to self-identify and provide input for revisions to radiological training, procedures, program documents, and processes.

Ability to incorporate lessons learned into radiological training.

Ability to ensure quality and consistency of health physics technician training.

Ability to mentor and develop a team of employees.

Proven oral and written skills to effectively communicate training concepts, problems and solutions to workers and management.
