Manufacturing Engineer - Estimated 6 month contingent position with possible extensions - Naperville, IL
Volt Workforce Solutions is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer for an estimated 6 month assignment (with possible extensions). This role will support new and existing manufacturing processes critical to ongoing growth and success of business unit. Responsibilities are focused on processes and equipment involved with material converting and assembly. The Manufacturing Engineer will work both, independently and as part of a team to improve process productivity or capability, solve various issues, and maintain safe work environment. The ideal candidate should have desire to constantly improve, learn new skills and self-actualize.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support existing manufacturing processes through problem solving, optimizing, and upgrading.
  • Investigate, identify root cause, apply corrective action, and document quality issues that occur in manufacturing.
  • Responsible for improvement and troubleshooting of tooling and fixtures used during product assembly.
  • Works with operators and assist during equipment set-up.
  • Provide directions and necessary training to operators.
  • Performs process validation and equipment qualification.
  • Collect manufacturing data and perform production yield analysis.
  • Support prototyping and experimenting with examination of results critical to this effort.
  • Understand, support and contribute to current Six Sigma, International Standards Organization (ISO) and Environmental, and/or Health and Safety (EH&S) Management Systems by following stated policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

What you will bring to be successful:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering plus 2 to 10 years practical experience working in manufacturing setting.
  • Responsibility for a process or product as part of regular job function.
  • Experience in material converting and/or product assembly.
  • Implementation of new manufacturing methods including training of others to execute a process.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude to pinpoint machine failures and opportunities.
  • Ability to read technical prints / drawings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with intent to explain processes, propose change, or establish technical requirements.
  • Basic CAD skills.
  • Growth mindset to challenge status quo and find new paths.


What will set you apart:
  • Report writing detailing outcome of RCA, process qualification, etc.
  • Measurement of process outputs to gage effectiveness.
  • Experience with data analysis tools.
  • Experience performing RCAs, FMEAs, etc.
