Title: IT Project Manager
Location: Abbott Park, Illinois, 60064
Duration: 10 months/ W2

Description:

  • Plan, execute, and manage IT projects within the defined scope. Manage and coordinate a multitude of IT Infrastructure project activities within the constraints of human, schedule, and financial resources, adjusting to changing priorities as needed to ensure the successful completion of projects.

Core Job Responsibilities
  • Work with IT management and project stakeholders to establish and gain consensus on project goals, objectives, and deliverables. Develop and execute a work plan, including identifying and obtaining appropriate resources to ensure all activities are performed. Coordinate resources and effectively assign tasks and deliverables to team members based upon their abilities throughout project execution.
  • Assess the degree to which changes to scope, issues and risks will affect projects working with department, divisional management, and sponsor to escalate if needed and to gain agreement for resolution. Monitor and measure performance to assure the project is progressing as compared to original schedule and budget. Communicate project progress by producing project reports to provide timely and accurate project status and decision support information to Project Team, Department, Customers, and IT Leadership.
  • Upon project completion, obtain final project approval from sponsor and stakeholders, perform appropriate closure tasks, and gather lessons learned.
  • Must be well versed in Organizational Change Management and be able to take project through all aspects of change methodology. Understand, communicate, and contribute to the IT organization change program goals and strategies.
  • Create an environment that encourages cooperation, open communication, and teamwork. Maintain productive and professional relationships with peers and management across the IT organization, as well as with business partners. Serve as a role model by demonstrating a commitment to business priorities and high performance.
  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.

Position Accountability / Scope
  • Manages Global Projects at the department or division level.
  • Makes decisions that impact projects or Departments. Influences or has final decision authority for project level budget and activities
  • 0-$10MM = direct project financial responsibility

Minimum Education, Skills, Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • At least 5 yrs. experience in managing Infrastructure projects on an enterprise and/or global scale.
  • Must be able to lead projects that could include various types of technologies including, but not limited to: Unix, Linux, Windows/VM Ware, Citrix, Hosting/Storage, Cloud Architecture, Collaboration/0365/SharePoint, DevOps, Data Center, Cyber Security, Mobile Solutions, End User Computing, Active Directory, Identity Management, Database Administration.

The following experience / skills are strongly preferred:
  • Experience with various project management methodologies/frameworks: Waterfall and Agile
  • Experience managing 3rd party suppliers.
  • Strong analytical skills, including demonstrated proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint. PowerBI a plus.
  • Ability to accomplish results through others, particularly by establishing relationships, effective controls, and monitoring processes.
  • Proven negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Strong collaboration and partnering skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas in easy-to-understand business terms to senior leaders.
  • Ability to design and optimize processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess customer/client needs, creatively approach solutions, decide, and influence appropriate courses of action.
  • Experience of indirect management – managing by influence as opposed to positional authority
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and changing environment.
  • Strong understanding of all phases of software development life cycle and software development methodologies.
  • Ability to work within a diverse, performance-based team environment.
  • Proven leadership skills, including the ability to lead meetings and communicate course of action.
