Job Description
TITLE: Principal Automation Engineer
DUTIES: DFS Corporate Services LLC seeks Principal Automation Engineer in Riverwoods, IL to utilize best practices to optimize processes using automation. Reduce incident handling time, change implementation time, and service delivery. Create monitoring solutions using industry standard tools. Create processes, procedures, guidelines, and standards for use by team. Research and gather requirements for automation. Gather requirements and build, test, and deploy automation workflows using industry standard tools with minimal oversight. Research and gather requirements for monitoring. Design, build, test and implement monitoring. Document and train use of automation/monitoring. Research, identify, and document best practices for use by the team. Provide mentoring/oversight to lower level employees on the team. Assign work, track progress, and validate work of lower level employees. Promote a risk-aware culture to ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes.
REQUIREMENTS : Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related and four (4) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation: working with application runtime technologies, including WebSphere, Tomcat, and JBoss used to automate solutions for self-healing systems, appropriately recover from exceptions and errors and reduce both the number of incident tickets and reduce incident ticket handling time; programming with Bash, Python and Ruby for automation, self-healing, systems integration and system recovery; working with Java runtime and troubleshooting Java applications to advance automated application recovery and system stability; performing distributed system troubleshooting and integration, including networking, JDBC and JMS to accurately detect, and automate the recovery from distributed system outages; performing automation with Chef and Ansible for environment deployments and full stack configuration management; performing systems integration programming with Service Now to provide self-service automation opportunities application development partners, enhance critical systems alerting and escalation, and provide codified systems recovery; and conducting technical writing to document standard operating procedures for first-level support, technical guides and system architecture. In the alternative, the employer will accept three (3) years of study towards a Bachelor's degree in the above-listed fields and two (2) years of related experience to meet the educational requirement.
