Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana was founded in 1983 and we haven’t stopped fighting hunger since. Our Food Bank depends on food donations from many different sources If you have strong communication skills, skills in relationship building, effective planning, attention to details, and interpersonal skills we would love to hear from you.Job Title: Food Sourcing Manager, Second Harvest Food Bank of ECIStatus: Full Time, exemptPlace in the Organization:Report to Director of ImpactPurpose:Create, develop, and manage a strategy to solicit donations of food and other products from the food industry including manufacturers, distributors, farmers, food processors and supermarkets. This position is responsible for securing a steady flow of food donations from local food donors by cultivating existing relationships and developing new relationships with local network partners and food donors. General Responsibilities: Demonstrates a commitment to the mission and vision of Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana Ability to think strategically, in order to develop long term food procurement strategies to meet the needs of the food bank and advance the food bank’s goals. Work within the annual budget to achieve the desired financial and distribution goals for the organization Ability to interact professionally with the public, donors, volunteers and staff Work in relationship with the other management team members to achieve donor relationships and financial requirements of the organization Display a desire to work with a diverse population using a compassionate, collaborative, and respectful approach. Support a culture of continuous improvement. Ability to use discretion and independent judgment in time management to meet objectives Demonstrates skills in budgeting, planning, and analysis. Highly organized with ability to successfully multitask and meet deadlines. All other duties as assigned by Director of Impact Specific Responsibilities & Duties: Develop and cultivate new food donors including retailers, processors, manufacturers, produce famers and meat processors throughout our service area to ensure food donations increase annually Cultivate current food donors with the goal of receiving more pounds per donation and more frequent donations, preventing attrition Collaborate with Philanthropy and Marketing team on a donor recognition program for major food donors Works with the Director of Facilities and Warehouse Operations to communicate incoming shipments and create strategies to reduce waste Facilitate and maintains Retail Store Donation Program Provide ongoing training to retail partners and agency staff involved in the store donation program Hosts industry visits and tours demonstrating our mission and the importance of donors to impact the communities we serve Collaborate with Operations to make the most efficient use of transportation and other logistics needed for handling donations Provide required monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required by food donors, FANO, USDA, and food bank leadership Responsible for securing purchased food product at a reasonable price for both resale to agency partners and for use in SHFB initiatives. Develop relationships with farmers who are willing to specifically grow food for Food Bank use both for compensation reimbursement and for donation. Determines form and frequency of solicitations and develops a system of donor tracking, reporting and acknowledgments in collaboration with the Philanthropy and Marketing team. Works with Director of Impact and Director of Facilities and Warehouse Operations to ensure inventory needs are metRequirements:Five years or more related experience in customer service, food sales, or the food industry Experience in team building, collaboration, and conflict management Present a professional image to the public Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting Excellent writing, communication, public speaking, and presentation skills Ability to attend work functions outside of normal work hours MS Office Suite proficient Bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing, business management or another relative field Ability to work on the telephone and computer for hours at a time Valid Driver’s License and Insurance on personal vehicle Ability to bend and lift a minimum of 20 lbs.
