Product Design Engineer

Are you a Product/ Design Engineer looking to take the next step in your career with a dynamic, global organization developing unique and cutting edge products? Our client, located in Elkhart, IN is the recognized leader in their space and is now looking to add a Product Design Engineer, preferably with HVAC, AC, refrigeration or similar industry experience to their team.

What you will be doing?

Design and develop parts, assemblies and products either directly or as a project leader to assigned products whether designed in-house or via other sources.

Utilize CAD/SolidWorks as needed to review and/or design component models and complete assemblies for new products, create and release or review detail component and assembly drawings, review and/or perform tolerance stack-ups, FEA analysis as needed, FMEA, DFA, etc., and use results to inform and optimize designs to meet performance/product specifications and manufacturability.

Products may include coolers (both passive and active) and refrigerator & freezer products sold into the RV, truck/vehicle, marine and lodging markets. Responsibilities may include other products as deemed necessary by the business.

Verify that designs meet the technical specifications and performance requirements via testing and ensure results are documented and that all required regulatory testing and listings/certifications have been achieved.

Manage the change process to assigned products by working with the manufacturing sources, Quality, Service and Product Management to maintain and improve performance, cost and quality of in-market products.

Develop and track project schedules and ensure activities occur as required to execute a timely and quality DUS launch. Evaluate and track costs to ensure project requirements are met.

Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree or equivalent relevant work experience

Project management, product design/development, and testing/evaluation experience

Understanding of component and assembly manufacturing methods and procedures (plastic part manufacture, sheet metal fabrication, fasteners, etc.)

Proficiency in SolidWorks

Experience designing automotive or white goods, especially refrigerators, preferred. Experience in simulation analysis (e.g. “ FEA, CFD, NVH, etc.) beneficial

Experience with Refrigeration a plus
