The CS is responsible for end-to-end category performance (within their defined scope) and supplier performance management, operating in accordance with corporate policies and processes and defined governance.The primary focus of the CS role is to form category strategies, based on supply market expertise, current and future business needs and global category spend and innovation opportunities that identify impactful business value (with a focus on savings through effective category deployment) The CS will be accountable to Category Manager (CM) for all sourcing, negotiation and contracting activity in their commodity area. The CM assures that all work activity performed at a category level has the necessary urgency to support safe, compliant, reliable, and efficient business operations.Stakeholder Management

Working with the business interface resources in the Downstream Procurement (DP) organization to ensure consistency and alignment of messages

Manage business stakeholders to secure buy-in for category strategy , own relationships with key regional and/or global suppliers, manages the Procurement interface for category relevant site / region functional roles

Manage interface between category strategy development and implementation by the delivery organisation, working in partnership with Category Excellence, Global Business Services, Business Interface and Business teams

Ensure effective communication between the category management and business interface organizations; category specific content (e.g. status updates, market insights etc.) are shared and fully reflected in category strategies and implementation

Category Strategy / Development

Leads multi-site procurement projects and supports key site projects where appropriate, as determined through the Virtual Networks

Provides support to regions assets to understand and, where possible, optimize the local, regional, and Global business requirements for third-party goods and services

Identifies, implements, and realizes value through effective “strategic cost management”, utilizing best-in-class methods

Mitigates external supply risk via sourcing and contracting strategies that take into account commodity criticality, alternate supply sources, logistics constraints. Provides support to region’s assets to understand and, where possible, optimize the local, regional, and Global business requirements for third-party goods and services

Identifies, implements, and realizes value through effective “strategic cost management”, utilizing best-in-class methods (e.g., ‘should cost analysis’) and tools (e.g., ‘e-sourcing’).

Mitigates external supply risk via sourcing and contracting strategies that take into account commodity criticality, alternate supply sources, logistics constraints.

Ensure the category strategy is compliant with BP policies such as risk management, delegation of authority and DP functional guidelines

Assurance of the integrity of all purchasing measures in regards to policies, processes, tools and standards of BP

Experience in P2P processes, and working knowledge of SAP functionality
