Volt is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to work onsite at our client, John Deere, located in Waterloo, IA. This is a contingent position forecasted for two years. This position will be 1st shift (7:00 am to 3:30 pm). Overtime is possible.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate electrical hardware and software development with suppliers
  • Develop software interface and requirements document for supplier-based software
  • Perform benchmarking on new software and electrical technologies to incorporate into our products
  • Perform software unit testing and integration testing on supplier parts
  • Triage and find root cause of defects found with testing; communicate back to supplier
  • Manage the life cycle of software features and defects for a particular set of supplier parts
  • Communicate to stakeholders the progress of supplier software and electrical parts
  • Create software payloads to be delivered to dealers and customers for supplier software
  • Create, implement, and release parts into the build of materials so that different product lines can adopt the solutions
  • Lead warranty investigations or any production or factory issues with software supplied parts

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
Skills Required:
  • 2 or more years of experience working with embedded software and embedded C programming
  • Understanding of embedded software systems and how electrical, mechanical, and software pieces come together to make a solution
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstration of problem-solving skills
  • Strong program management skills and an ability
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to bring up issues or risks to management teams
  • Experience with the software development process
  • Experience with software test automation tools
  • Experience with testing software in the SIL, HIL, and VIL environments
  • Experience with J1939 CAN communication protocols

Identified candidate must be willing to relocate to Waterloo, IA at own expense.
Candidate must be available to work on W2 for Volt. No C2C or 3rd party vendors please.
