GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs aerial construction and coax splicing in accordance with NESC, NEC codes and safety regulations, Mediacom specification, policies and procedures, good workmanship; utility, federal, state and local codes
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Knowledgeable in general CATV construction practices
Ability to read system prints and understand the design and operation of CATV
Building strand, lashing cables, setting bonds, building risers, setting anchors and down guys
Placing and lashing coax or fiber
Placing self-support cable and inner duct
Ability to drill poles and transfers existing attachments to new poles
Install all cables in compliance with Mediacom Specification and all applicable codes and or regulations
Climbing utility poles and/or using aerial lift truck to place cables on pole per system design and spec
Ability to splice active plant with AC, splice and activate new plant, read tombstones and design prints, and use a signal level meter to verify plant is within spec both forward and return
Performing safety evaluations and testing work for quality
Maintaining a safe, clean work environment
Maintaining and handling all tools, equipment and assets safely and responsibly
Willing to train new ground hand(s)
Compliant with all safety requirements
Capable of working in all temperatures, climates, and weather conditions
Knowledge of various computer, tablet and smartphone operations for receiving work electronically
Knowledge and awareness of safety policies for protecting yourself, your team and the public at all times
Functions in various weather conditions within safety constraints
Provides input to supervisor on projects
Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Perform all other duties assigned
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS and AVAILABILITY:
High School Diploma or equivalent required, 2 year Degree preferred
1-3 years' experience as a CATV Construction lineman or certificate of graduation from certified apprenticeship program
Valid Driver's license; satisfactory driving record
Ability to pass a DOT Physical
Knowledge of all construction tools and equipment including; bucket trucks, lasher, blocks, pulling grips, stand/cable trailers, cable layers, hoists, bolt cutters, lay-up sticks and hand lines
Ability to work flexible work hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime as required
Ability to travel and stay out of town when required
Ability to interact with customers and co-workers; ability to communicate verbally
Good written and oral communication skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to perform Strenuous - Physical effort represented by frequent handling of heavy objects (approx. 75-100 lbs. minimum) with a full range of motion
