These teams are responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and the development of new avionics systems for a range of programs within B&RA.This position offers an opportunity to guide multiple phases of the systems design and development process, from initial program pursuit through the design, development, integration, test and certification phases. Specific lead responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, providing the oversight and guidance for A/C application requirements analysis & trade studies, architecture definition, functional allocation, test and integration, engineering documentation, and other system/software engineering-related activitiesIn addition to project related activities, engineering management responsibilities include planning, organizing, resource allocation, conducting performance reviews, and overall administrative management responsibilities for the team. Candidates must be capable of developing and conveying the technical approach to customers, upper level engineering management, program management, and business development effectively. Candidates must also ensure engineering and program management are aligned in technical, financial, and staffing expectations in order to ensure pursuits are captured and programs can be successfully executed.Primary Responsibilities:The position involves the following engineering department management responsibilities:

Monitoring and anticipating changes in market trends and competitor's strategy and tactics to aid the business development organization.

Developing strategies, implementing plans, and directing execution necessary to achieve program area objectives for this area and those supported by this area.

Ensuring program contractual requirements are satisfied while achieving business area/profit center objectives.

Maintaining a competent and effective staff through effective hiring, training, and development of key personnel.

Recommending and implementing lean concepts to improve engineering productivity.

Striving for 100% internal and external customer satisfaction by obtaining and maintaining a clear understanding of the customer's needs and providing products and service to satisfy customer requirements.

Operating in accordance with Collins Aerospace policies and procedures and in compliance with accepted business ethics.​

Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline (STEM degree is highly preferred) and 10 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 8 years of relevant experience.In the absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required.

U.S. Citizenship or Green Card is required.

Avionics or aviation electronics background, ideally with commercial certification experience is required

A background in Systems and Software engineering is required

Must currently be an engineering leader or have recent leadership experience.

Additional Requirements:

A significant portion of the responsibilities for this position include execution of various business and regional avionics programs, both domestic and international. Therefore, it is preferred that candidates for this position have proven project execution skills, and also have demonstrated systems and software engineering experience in a lead role on complex avionics programs. This position may require direct involvement in industry wide initiatives, technologies, and certification trends (FAR 25.1302/1322, ARP 4754, STC and SOC airplane level certification activities).

Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, as well as customers and certification agencies. The position requires a close working relationship with program managers, product-line managers, multiple program systems teams, and other domain engineering teams and leaders. As such, applicant must have both strong interpersonal skills and a strong, broad-based technical competency.

This position may require occasional domestic or international travel.
