In this role, you will be a part of the platform systems engineering team performing tasks associated with the design, development, and integration of various system and subsystem components for use on fixed wing military aircraft and/or avionics platforms. This role also includes leveraging civil certification experience and background to help guide the team through certification processes where needed along with a desire to continue learning and growing in the certification realm.The team performs the aircraft platform systems engineering tasks associated with the design, development and integration of various system / subsystem applications, for use on US Government fixed-wing platforms such as KC-10.The initial assignment for this position will include learning and assessing the certification status and plans for the current executing programs. Other assignments include, but are not limited to systems and aircraft test development, requirements capture, test execution, software integration activities, aircraft sustainment activities, and bid and proposal support .Primary Responsibilities:

Provide technical support to the platform systems engineering team during all phases of the project development.

Interfacing with supporting system and subsystem engineers, and domain engineers through requirements capture, functional and integration testing, and delivery support.

Interacting with customers to define/capture requirements, and translate operational concepts into system level requirements and designs.

Capture, analyze, decompose, model and create requirements for systems, product or sub-systems of moderate complexity.

Create and execute verification/validation testing for products and subsystems of moderate complexity and contribute to system integration.

Contribute to the development of functional, interface and performance specifications for hardware and software implementation.

Contribute to architecturally significant requirements and technical risk area identification.

Estimate, track and report project technical, cost and schedule aspects for assigned scope of work.

Decisions may have moderate impact on cost, schedule, and performance.

Understand and utilize internal processes, methods and tools for systems development and documentation efforts.

Act as a mentor to more-junior engineers in additional areas including project execution.

Required Qualifications

US Citizenship is required.

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.

Experience with the applicable systems guidance, standards, and regulations including, but not limited to TSOs, DO-178B/C, ARP4754, DO-297, Advisory Circulars, Foreign Certification Memos, etc.

Candidates for this role should possess a Bachelor’s degree and five years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced degree and three years of prior relevant experience.

Aircraft and/or avionics verification-related experience, preferably in platform systems.

Knowledge of current systems engineering tools (DOORS, Subversion, etc.).

Understanding of the Systems Engineering (SE) process and the Technical Consistent Process (TCP).

Must have the desire to participate on a results-oriented engineering team, be highly motivated, and be self directed.

Desired qualifications:

Experience with avionics Flight2 architecture

Understanding of basic aircraft / cockpit instrumentation and operation.

Knowledge of Lean-Agile principles.

Experience with DOORS/JAMA, Clearquest / JIRA and Python scripting.

Desirable to have knowledge of the KC-10 platform
