The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk.The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.Corporate Model Risk (CMoR) is responsible for independently overseeing the management of model risk exposures (including monitoring design or coding errors and appropriate model usage) and the quality of model risk management practices across the company. This oversight extends throughout the end-to-end model lifecycle including model identification, risk ranking, development, validation, implementation, usage, and monitoring.The position reports directly to the CMoR qualitative validation head, The position will work in coordination with the all the Senior Validation Leads and the EGS (India) Team Manager. The Qualitative Model Validation Team is responsible for conducting independent validation of all qualitative models across the enterprise. Validation activities can include initial validation, re-validation, targeted scope validation, and annual review. The qualitative validation head is located in the US, while the validation team members are located in the US and in India.Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Provide cross-functional support for all validation work streams related to managing the operations of the Qualitative Validation team; this includes:
o Lead the planning and execution of multiple, concurrent model validation workstreams ton ensure the team can meet all its commitments. This includes analyzing, anticipating and updating any capacity needs, facilitating periodic touchpoint meetings, providing status, and coordinating issue resolution.o Help maintain accuracy of the model inventory and schedule, which are used to monitor all qualitative model validation activities. Provide transparency to our partners (including CMoR Governance, LoB Governance). Look for opportunities to assist the validation team to prevent required validation activities from being inadvertently overlooked.o Proactively review the schedule, inventory and MoRS to identify issues/discrepancies and work with the appropriate staff to resolve them.o Ensure team capacity is maintained up to date, anticipating hiring needs and need for third party support if required.
Work collaboratively with the validation leads and LOB Model Governance teams to identify process gaps, anticipate resource challenges and define areas of opportunity.
Establish an effective partnership with all stakeholders, including management and staff of the Qualitative Model Validation Team, CMoR Governance, and LoB Governance.
Respond to ad hoc (and often critical) requests from management and CMoR Governance for information and presentations (typically model-related inquiries).
Maintain awareness of model risk policy to ensure that work being performed adheres to those requirements.
Required Qualifications:
6+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 6+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 3+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both
