Platform Engineer

As a Platform Engineer supporting the Health Services teams, you will play a key leadership role in advancing Wellmark's engineering capabilities and delivering scalable, resilient, and modern technology solutions. Working across product teams, architecture, and business functions, you will help establish technical direction, promote engineering best practices, and drive consistency in how solutions are designed, delivered, secured, and operated. You will serve as a trusted technical leader who influences architectural decisions, accelerates modernization efforts, and helps teams effectively leverage emerging technologies, including AI, automation, and digital workplace capabilities.This role operates beyond the boundaries of a single team, partnering with Product Managers, Architects, Engineers, and business stakeholders to solve complex problems and improve delivery outcomes across multiple products and systems. You will identify and remove technical friction, champion engineering excellence, and help scale effective practices across the organization. Through coaching, mentorship, and hands-on engagement, you will enable product teams to make sound technical decisions, strengthen engineering discipline, and continuously improve quality, security, maintainability, and delivery velocity. While supporting responsible adoption of automation, AI, and low-code capabilities, your primary focus will be creating leverage across teams by advancing technical leadership, reducing complexity, and driving sustainable engineering practices throughout the enterprise.
