Prepare food to provide nutrition and variety to the residents.
Essential Job Responsibilities
â¢ Prepare food daily, as outlined on the weekly menu plan.
â¢ Alter or adapt recipes to accommodate special dining needs of residents or to improve recipes. Recipes should be prepared with little or no added sodium (salt).
â¢ Monitor or portion control to meet residents' requests and meet basic nutritional requirements.
â¢ Coordinate and participate in serving food.
â¢ Ensure attractive presentation of food on the plate before serving.
â¢ Maintain portion control to meet budgetary requirements.
â¢ Train, supervise and assign work to Dining Aides.
â¢ Assist with menu planning. Review and adjust menus with supervisor to accommodate foods in season, vendor sale prices, special events and holidays.
â¢ Identify food and supplies needed for the next week's menus and report to the supervisor.
â¢ Maintain a clean, orderly and safe kitchen environment.
â¢ Ensure proper handling, labeling and storage of food for infection control.
â¢ Prepare meats for storage and portion control upon delivery. Ensure proper storage of all delivered foods and ingredients.
â¢ Maintain a written inventory of dry goods, refrigerated and frozen foods, non-food supplies, dishes and utensils.
â¢ Notify manager of malfunctioning equipment or appliances.
â¢ Ensure compliance with all state, local, and federal regulations.
â¢ Work with a team to ensure efficient operation of the facility.
â¢ Provide input for resident assistance plans.
â¢ Encourage and invite residents to participate in the food service program and activities.
â¢ Attend scheduled staff and in-service meetings, as required.
â¢ Carry out other duties as assigned by supervisor.
