Title: Life Skills Coordinator
Report: Program Development Sr. Manager
Hours: Hourly up to 30 hrs.
Compensation: TBD
Summary of Position:
Freedom for Youth Ministries is looking for a Life Skills Coordinator to plan, organize and create a curriculum and space
for volunteers to teach classes and share their hobbies, giving young people opportunities to come and explore the gifts
and talents that God has given them. Classes can include woodworking, welding, mechanics, art, cooking, gardening,
landscaping, and more depending on volunteers available and studentâs interest.
The Life Skills Coordinator will look for and arrange a variety of skill classes that are taught to educate
students on skills that will be helpful in their future as a self-sufficient person who will have
responsibilities for a home, family, vehicles, etc. The classes can also help students identify a career
interest to pursue further or hobby to be enjoyed during their lifetime.

Requirements:

- Have a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Entrepreneurial spirit, excited to try new things without fear of failure.
- Knowledge on various skills and hobbies.
- Willing and able to make connections easily.
- Strong communication skills.
- Organized and able to multi-task.
- Be a team player, always willing to assist in different areas as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop a curriculum and class structure that allows volunteers to mentor and build Christ-centered relationships with the students.
o Mentor volunteers will have a weekly topic of conversation with a scripture for a 15-minute talk time
followed by prayer (example)
o Curriculum that has different levels of engagement, responsibility and skill based off level of program.
(Discovery vs. Journey)
- Work with volunteers in making sure they feel trained and equipped to use the equipment and teach that
specific class.
- Becoming familiar with FFY expectations and guidelines.
- Making sure FFYM has all the supplies for the volunteer to teach a class.
- Sticking within the budget assigned to each class.
- Coordinating Teen Arts Fest (at least 2x a year)
- Seeking out opportunities where the youth and volunteers can grow their hobby/skill into employment training
and/or share with others. (farmers market, lawn care business, catering events, etc.)
- Work with Youth Managers on scheduling, recruiting youth who have a serious interest in learning the skill, not
just coming to hang out at Freedom.
- Develop a pool of people who are interested in teaching a skills class, hobbies and or speaking to the youth.
- Set up field trips for each of the classes to check out that relates to what they have been exploring/working on.
