Responsibilities and Skills:
Ability to operates hand and power tools of all types safely and efficiently that are necessary for completing construction projects, including laying pipe and other projects
o Common tools used: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and pavement breakers
Lay sewer, storm, and water is a plus
General knowledge of main line installation is preferred
Ability to read blueprints, plans, and instructions – or – desire to learn this skillset
Shovel rock, dirt, or sand
Ability to service assigned equipment to ensure maximum operating efficiency (grease, clean, oil, etc.)
Control traffic passing in or around work zones
Other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
Work environment conditions consist of working in the sun, heat, cold, and water where the conditions could be dirty or dusty.
Ability to crawl in and out of excavations, climb up and down a ladder, operate company equipment
Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, push, pull, and sit
Laborers must be able to train/perform in operator role which will require you to sit in the same position for up to 12 hours a day and requires repetitive motion of upper extremities operating controls.
The ability to frequently lift 20 to 100lbs or more
Must pass physical exam and drug test
Ability to work extended hours during construction season (OT is paid at time and a half)
License/Certification Requirements:
A valid drivers' license and driving record acceptable to our insurance company is required
