Deliver material and equipment to the crews in a timely manner. Also move the crews’ equipment and material from job to job in a timely manner. Ensure that when they are the last ones to leave the job, nothing is left behind.
Typical Duties Driver: Drives over various road types to transport materials, supplies, merchandise, or equipment. Performs such difficult driving tasks as backing and or manipulating truck for deliveries and pickups, turning narrow corners, negotiating narrow passageways and keeping truck and trailer under control, particularly on wet or icy roads. Ensures safety procedures are adhered to at all times. Loads and unloads trucks, either by hand or with the use of forklift or other equipment. Keeps within load limits. Secures loads. Obtains required permits. Maintains a proper log of work-related activities. May handle manifest, bills of lading, expense accounts, and other papers pertinent to the shipment. Performs daily inspections of truck, equipment, and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and water. Performs routine maintenance and repairs. Maintain cleanliness of truck and tractor. Communicates equipment and material issues between the office/shop/jobsite. Maintains an accurate log book. (see also Description of Physical Requirements for All Field Positions).
Typical Duties Shop: Maintain an organized and clean shop. Check equipment to the best of your knowledge for needed repairs or servicing that might be due. Keep the appearance of equipment in good standards. Wash as needed. Keep accurate service records on all equipment.
Requirements: Drivers must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid driver’s license for the type of vehicle to be operated, and keep the license(s) with them at all times while driving. All CDL drivers must comply with all applicable D.O.T. Regulations, including successful completion of medical, drug and alcohol evaluations.
