TanTara Transportation Corp. is a family-owned trucking company based out of Muscatine, IA. TanTara is seeking resumes for a Load Planner / Dedicated Fleet Manager. This position is scheduled for Monday through Friday, 7 am to 5 pm, with 10 hours of overtime expected on average per week.
As an essential part of the operations team, the Load Planner and Dedicated Fleet Manager is responsible for matching inbound trucks with outbound freight, while managing a fleet of dedicated drivers for one of our top customers. This position requires self-direction and excellent customer service, sales, and communication skills, with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Functions:
Work with operations team to determine which freight tenders to accept and decline based on truck availability and drivers needs; pre-plan trucks based on availability; and plan freight based on our primary outbound customers and secondary inbound customers needs, while planning for the least amount of deadhead used as possible.
Arrange with Fleet Managers the appropriate loads for each truck based on the drivers needs, hours of availability, and transit time of loads.
Solve problems brought to them by the Fleet Managers, with the companys best interest in mind
Communicate with brokers and customers any information that is requested on scheduled loads and work with Dispatch to determine appointment scheduling
Maintain customer relationships, seek out new opportunities, and analyzing market trends and company capabilities to negotiate prices
Manage our biggest customers dedicated routes; which includes communicating with them regarding route issues and their needs and the drivers that run the routes.
Work with drivers needs for time off.
Process and review dedicated payroll.
Ensure proper maintenance and service of equipment used for the dedicated routes.
Oversee performance of dedicated drivers, to include any discipline and performance reviews.
Ensure driver safety and DOT regulation compliance.
Provide any insurance requests to brokers and customers.
Preform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
Basic knowledge of a computer
Knowledge of U.S. geography and map reading
Customer service skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Organizational skills and ability to schedule work day independently
Manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, service-driven environment
Identify and manage crisis situations autonomously
Good interpersonal skills and service attitude
Knowledge of applicable DOT regulations and basic understanding of transportation equipment/terminology is required
Experience in the trucking industry is required
High school diploma
