Demolition Burner
Stryker Demolition & Environmental Services, LLC (Stryker DES) is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Demolition Burner. Candidates will report to the Stryker DES field supervisor(s) at a demolition project in the Sioux City Iowa Regional Area and will help deliver Stryker DES’s core values: excellence in service, commitment to health and safety and attention to regulatory compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Be able to safely work in a project team environment and follow direction of a supervisor
Understand and respond appropriately to all safety hazards, safety plans/documents and warning devices
Safely operate torch cutting equipment to size or dismantle structures during demolition work
Be motivated and work productively and participate in the safety culture
Perform work activities in chemical, industrial and other commercial facilities
Adapt to working in hot and cold environments
Ability to perform manual labor
Abide by Federal, State and Company rules / safety regulations
QUALIFICATIONS:
3-5 years’ experience working on demolition, asbestos or remediation projects
Experience working with a wide variety of tools for demolition
Experience working with and around cranes
A criminal background check, drug and alcohol screen will be conducted
Physically able to lift/push/pull 50 lbs
Knowledge of rigging / hoisting equipment and crane/lifting hand signals
Ability to work productively in personal protective equipment throughout work shift in all weather conditions
Ability to climb, kneel, stoop, bend, lift, push/pull and/or reach frequently
Ability to work with hazardous materials
Ability to obtain medical clearance to wear a respirator in all weather conditions
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Experience on large industrial demolition projects
Torch cutting at heights a plus
OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour training a plus
Asbestos training a plus
40-hour HAZWOPER training a plus
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time hourly position
TRAVEL: This is a field-based position with up to 100% travel.
