Operator Welder (Seed Bin) – Sioux City, IA
2nd Shift – Monday -Thursday (10-hour shifts)
Starting pay up to $14hr with a $2 shift differential

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Primarily to make repairs to plastic seed bin containers using a variety of hand tools and plastic welding equipment. This position will also be capable of working as an Operator in other plant functions such as container recycling, cleaning, repairing and formulation and packaging area.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Follow plant safety rules and wear proper PPE
Comply with all company policies and procedures
WELDING FUNCTIONS:
Evaluate seed bins, determine necessary repairs
Handle seed bins weighing 230 lbs
Cut out damaged sections of a seed bin to be repaired
Cut out replacement sections from a scrap seed bin
Plastic weld the replacement section using proper welding techniques
OPERATOR FUNCTIONS:
Operate container rinsing and recycling equipment with minimum downtime by cleaning and adjusting the machinery and components as needed
Diagnose common equipment problems and effectively communicate with maintenance personnel
Coordinate with team members for maximum production efficiency
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts for minimum downtime and maximum throughput
Use basic hand tools for routine equipment adjustment and repairs
Use basic hand tools and power tools to prepare containers for recycling
Write standard operating procedures (SOPs) and train others when needed
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
High school graduate or GED
Some college or technical school preferred
Good mechanical aptitude
Good math skills
Problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Critical thinking skills
Self-discipline and motivation
Computer skills to include MS Office
Welding experience
Experience using grinders, saws all, drills and Dremel tools
Ability to work in an organized manner
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Industrial warehouse environment.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Safety glasses, steel-toe safety shoes, hardhat, long sleeved shirt and pants, full face respirator (when required), and hearing protection.
