Iowa needs plenty of new electrical workers for construction projects.
In Des Moines, our employers need electricians with all levels of experience, from semi-skilled to journeymen. Major data center projects and high-rise buildings will likely create demand for as many as 600 new members.
In other areas of the state, there are significant industrial and wind tower projects.
High demand for line construction workers will continue in the foreseeable future, as many of our members have traveled to reconstruction projects following tropical storm disasters in the Southern states and Puerto Rico.
Total journeymen electrician wage and benefit packages range from $48 an hour to $60 an hour depending on location. Journeymen linemen are paid $65+ an hour. Our employers provide great healthcare and retirement plans.
We have residential/commercial Locals in Burlington, Sioux City, Waterloo, Des Moines, Cedar Rapids and Dubuque. Our Iowa Line Local is headquartered in Des Moines.
