Job Summary: The Osawatomie State Hospital (OSH) and Adair Acute Care at OSH (AAC) currently have openings for a Mental Health Developmental Disability Technician (MHDDT) position.

Job Description: As a MHDDT you will perform basic nursing tasks in order to enable assessment of OSH patient conditions. Report changes in physical and emotional status of patients to promote patient care and safety by sharing information with trained staff. Assist and provide basic nursing care of patients to enable them to meet their needs of daily living by assisting them with personal hygiene, oral hygiene, care of clothing, etc. $14.45 (this includes shift differential). We work 12 hour shifts.

Minimum Requirements: No minimum requirements. Note: A negative drug screen is required as a condition of employment.

Preferred Criteria: A valid driver's license and high school diploma or equivalent.

Performance Standards: To be successful, the expectation is that a candidate will be able to competently perform the routine tasks of the position with limited supervision by the end of the probation period. Training is provided before staff start working on the units.

EXCITING NEWS - This position can open doors to a clear career ladder to a licensed career in Mental Health Nursing. After working for 9-12 months as one of our MHDDTs, with good work performance and attendance, you can apply for the LMHT Program at our facility. This is a six-month paid program that is licensed by Kansas State Board of Nursing.

After obtaining license, as you continue in your LMHT position, you will have the opportunity to go to Nursing School and through the Kansas Board of Regents to apply for a $5,000.00 per year scholarship plus KDADS $2000.00 per semester which will pay for towards your Registered Nurse program. In all, this is an investment of about $46,000 by the hospital. In return, you will be working for the hospital as a RN for at least two years.
