Overview:
TelCom Construction is looking for motivated employees to join our team! Weâre looking for Fiber Optic/Copper Splicer who are ready to roll up their sleeves and who want to make a difference by building tomorrowâs Utility Infrastructure. We are currently hiring for full-time Fiber/Copper Splicers to work out of our Ottawa, KS location.
Responsibilities:
Terminates, splices and preps Fiber Optic/Copper pedestals and enclosures
Performs OTDR, power meter and PON testing with various types of equipment
Splices and repairs new and existing plant, buried and aerial cable using all types of construction methods and manufacturer procedures.
Mounts building entrance terminals and terminates within them
Performs cutovers and cable throws
Works with live circuits
Loads and unloads supplies
Performs general clean up
Provides accurate daily timekeeping
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Previous experience splicing fiber optic and/or copper cable
Ability to read electronic and paper schematics, maps and prints
Ability to apply reasoning and understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
Ability to meet the physical requirements of the positions
Ability to work in all weather conditions
A valid driverâs license with a good driving record is required
Must maintain a current DOT health certificate
Class A CDL is a plus (higher wage scales apply to CDL holders)
Ability to work in emergencies at night and weekends if needed
Ability to be on an on-call rotation
Regular out-of-town travel as required
