About This Role :

The Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) at Kansas State University invites applications for the position of Inclusion and Equity Specialist at the level of Investigator .

This position is a full-time Term position with an end date of June 12, 2021 . Kansas State University is committed to fostering a diverse student, faculty, and staff environment that is rooted in respect and fair practices.

OIE is engaged in ensuring the university adheres to the laws, regulations, executive orders, and other applicable policies that uphold this guiding principle.

Thoroughly and expeditiously, investigate and review complaints of discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, sexual violence, domestic / dating violence, retaliation, and other complaints falling under K-State’s nondiscrimination Policy.

This will be accomplished by various investigative functions including following relevant policies and procedures, scheduling and conducting interviews, analyzing information obtained, writing administrative review reports, and maintaining reports files.

Contribute to the coordination and completion of any data inquiries or reports requested from university departments / officials or from federal or state agencies.

Work collaboratively with the OIE staff and other appropriate campus departments / units to develop and present training to the campus community on diversity, equity, compliance, Title IX, and other training as needed.

Work collaboratively with OIE staff and other appropriate campus departments / units and community partners to research, develop, identify, and integrate best practices in the areas of diversity, equity, and compliance, equal employment opportunity, and harassment / sexual violence prevention.

Contribute to the coordination and completion of any data inquiries or reports requested from university departments / officials or from federal or state agencies.

Collaborates with on and off-campus entities, including victim services, student organizations, counseling services, K-State Extension, the Office of Student Life, law enforcement, and outreach agencies for developing, coordinating, and implementing, and evaluating programs to prevent and report potential anti-discrimination policy violations such as discrimination and sexual violence at K-State University.

Coordinates with the Director of OIE / Title IX Coordinator and other key campus partners in the review, development, and implementation of policies and procedures that comply with Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, and other relevant federal or state laws and regulations.

Assist in the identification of complaint patterns and systematic problems and the facilitation of solutions. Assists in the preparation, dissemination, and implementation of policies, procedures, and guidelines related to the review of internal complaints of alleged discrimination and EEO / diversity planning.

Collaborate with Risk and Compliance and Clery coordinator. Serve on university committees.

What You’ll Need to Succeed :

Minimum Requirements :

Requires a bachelor's degree with a minimum of three years of experience in equal opportunity, affirmative action, or human resources.

Preferred Qualifications :

Master’s degree, Juris Doctorate (JD) is preferred

Three or more years of professional experience in EEO or employee relations that included investigation of complaints and evaluation of EEO procedures, Knowledge of EEO laws, Title IX, government regulations, and executive orders as demonstrated in the application materials.

Three years of experience in the development and delivery of anti-discrimination training programs.

EEO / Title IX investigation training

Higher Education experience

Investigator Certification(s) Preferred

i.e. NACUA, ASCA, ATIXA, etc. or similar)

Excellent written communication skills

Other Requirements :
