Electronics Technician I - Public Works/Traffic Operations
$17.95 per hour
The Electronics Technician I position is responsible for the maintenance of City-Owned traffic signals & associated communications systems which includes preventative, routine and emergency-type maintenance. Maintenance activities include the repair, replacement, adjustment, and modification of microprocessor based electronic controller components and systems requiring a high level of skill. Responds to trouble calls during and after schedules work shifts. Maintains City-owned street lights and assists Signs and Marking personnel as needed. Assists in emergency snow removal operations as required needed. Position hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM.
Minimum qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Graduation from an accredited vocational, military or two year college with courses in electronics technology preferred. Two (2) year of direct experience working in traffic signal system is preferred. IMSA Work Zone Traffic Control Safety Certification required within six (6) months of employment and IMSA Level I Traffic Signal Certification required within on (1) year of employment. Must possess and maintain a valid Class C Kansas driver’s license and city insurable driving record.
