Associate Chemist, Polymer Development will perform hands-on work in a polymer and process development laboratory, collaborating with scientists and directly supporting customers.




Responsibilities:




Organize, plan, and conduct experiments on new polymers and improvements to existing materials/processes to support development programs.

Carry out analytical, thermal, rheological, mechanical and electrical tests on lab samples, summarize & interpret results.

Implement existing and develop new methods.

Maintain a laboratory notebook and detailed records of experiments.

Analyze data and prepare reports.

Instrument and equipment maintenance/troubleshooting.




Qualifications:






  • At least an Associate's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or related field. Bachelor's degree preferred. Candidate must have completed general and organic chemistry. Course work in analytical chemistry and polymer science is preferred.



  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a chemistry, analytical, plastics & polymers or quality laboratory is preferred.



  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret data and provide thorough presentations and reports.



  • Ability to design & implement methods.



  • Ability to identify potential sources of error in experiments and implement controls to mitigate them.



  • Effective communication - both verbal and written.



  • Strong understanding and commitment to safe lab practices and chemical handling.



  • Ability to organize, keep detailed documentation/records, and achieve timely, accurate results.



  • Ability to make minor repairs to lab equipment.



  • Ability work independently with minimal supervision and be part of team.



  • Ability to manage projects and competing priorities.
