FRONT LINE SUPERVISOR (FLS)

The front-line supervisor (FLS) serves a crucial role in managing the overall functioning of the organization. The main goal is to supervise subordinate personnel, motivate them to deliver quality work, and assist employees in achieving their work goals.

KEY RESPONIBILITIES:

The FLS is the person who works off the directions given by the Plant and Production Managers ensuring all work is completed properly, and that there are no issues obstructing daily work activities. The FLS plans the work schedule based off the workload. The FLS reviews the quality of work at the end of the process. The FLS makes sure that each employee has performed their duty to their maximum capability. The FLS makes sure that all personnel problems or issues have been resolved; but in severe cases, the FLS will refer them to higher authority for resolution. The FLS handles a wide variety of duties that may very based on the needs of the organization.

MAJOR RESPONISBILITIES INCLUDE:

Communicating effectively with employees, clearly communicating instructions regarding work procedures

Implementing and modifying work plans

Delegating task based on priorities

Facilitating teamwork

Encouraging employees to develop themselves

Using good judgement

Ensuring all rules, policies, and regulations are being followed, and understanding the proper chain of command to follow when dealing with discipline

Ensuring quality work, monitoring and reviewing the work of the employees, and providing fair recommendations to improve the quality of work

Promoting the health, safety, and wellness of the employees, especially in the case of an emergency

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

The FLS is key to high performance in this organization. The FLS will be responsible for inspecting the equipment. Furthermore, the FLS will be in charge of measuring the performance of the employees and providing the necessary training, guiding, or coaching. The FLS will be in charge of their work environment and should strive to solve differences of the workers to promote teamwork and a better DIAMOND.

TO INSURE THIS A GOOD FRONT-LINE SUPERVISOR MUST:

Be an example to employees by following all rules set by DIAMOND

Possess good judgement skills

Possess beneficial conflict resolution skills

Possess effective communication skills

Feel comfortable and confident making major decisions

Be an un-biased leader, and be able to treat others with dignity and respect

Develop team spirit

Have a knowledge of work procedures and expectations, and possess the ability to relay those to team members

Maintain and update the data of the workers in a given database

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

A high school diploma or any other equivalent qualification is sufficient to make an entry as a front-line supervisor. Individuals who have previous work experience are preferred

WORK SCHEDULE:

The individual in this position needs to work for 10 hours daily. He/she may be required to work in shifts or may need to work extra depending on the priority of the work.
