Chemours is seeking a Reliability Engineer to join our growing Louisville Works team! This position will report directly to the Maintenance & Reliability Manager at our Louisville, KY location.

The Reliability Engineer (RE) provides solutions that optimize asset capacity and availability as well as Cost of Manufacture (COM) utilizing process and equipment data analysis methodologies. The RE utilizes Reliability analytics to understand cost performance and failure mode impact on the asset's ability to perform against the business, maintenance & production strategies and develops recommendations for mitigation of the failure modes through modification of the maintenance strategy or proposal of asset modification (capital) .

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop appropriate equipment maintenance plans to include equipment checks, predictive & preventative maintenance (PPM), critical spare parts, and SAP data utilizing appropriate tools such as criticality assessments and Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (FMEA).
  • Lead preventative maintenance (PM) optimization efforts
  • Support execution of WMP - Utilize technical knowledge and skill and site master data (equipment files, technical documents, training manuals, maintenance plans, scope task lists, materials and parts, etc.) and make or propose Improvements around maintenance planning and job scopes.
  • Participate in maintenance and reliability networks and share best practices, successes and failures.
  • Implement strategies for improving mechanical reliability.
  • Lead resolution of mechanical equipment failures utilizing high quality Root Cause determination methodology, typically Root Cause Failure Analysis.
  • Actively work with the Technology, Maintenance and Production organizations as a role model utilizing, training, and coaching advanced reliability techniques and tools to develop, maintain and drive a reliability culture
  • Determine how process variation and equipment operation can impact equipment reliability.
  • Develop and implement equipment asset plans using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Risk Based Inspections (RBI), and other reliability techniques.


The following is required for this role:
  • BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred).
  • Minimum 2-5 years of work experience OR Engineering Degree specialization in Reliability Engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence management
  • Good Analytical and Problem-solving skills.
  • Proven strong contributor with the capability to work independently.


The following is preferred by the business unit:
  • Experience working in the chemicals or oil & gas industries with high hazard processes
  • Prior experience with condition based and predictive maintenance techniques such as vibration analysis, oil analysis, infrared thermography, ultrasonics, and performance testing
  • Understanding of non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques for inspection such as eddy current, ultrasonic thickness, radiography, and visual inspections
  • Understand the principles of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Life Cycle Cost Analysis - Total Cost of Ownership
  • Six Sigma certified as Green Belt
