HOURS: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30/4:00 PM. Full-time is considered 30+ hours/week.

Position Summary: The Participant Care Assistant is an essential role at Mariposa Place. He/she assists the Direct Support Professionals in activities of daily living. He/she provides support independently, with a fellow PCA or Direct Support Professional through ensuring hygiene and nutritional needs are met. The PCA provides the service in a respective fashion and reports all concerns, which include discovery of participants care needs not being met to the direct support supervisor. The PCA can cover duties of a Direct Support Professional when available and directed by his/her direct supervisor.
Essential Job Functions
Ensure the safety of Friends at all times
Assist Direct Support Professionals and fellow PCA in ensuring hygiene needs are met
Assist and encourage Friends to engage in meaningful person-centered activities as needed
Assist Direct Support Professionals and fellow PCA in ensuring mealtime needs are met
Provide and advocate for high-quality respectful care
Report all unusual occurrences or concerns regarding care provided by others
Assist in keeping the environment clean and respectful
Complete documentation
Maintain a positive professional attitude in order to foster a healthy environment
And other job duties as assigned
Essential Job Requirements:
EDUCATION and TRAINING: Is at least eight years of age. He/she must successfully complete the College of Direct Support online training, Crisis Intervention, First Aid, CPR and demonstrate competency on individualized needs prior to working independently alone with a participant (Friend). This training will be provided and/or coordinated by Mariposa.
EXPERIENCE and CREDENTIALS: Valid SS# or work permit if not U.S. citizen and criminal background checks
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Documented negative tuberculosis test and drug test. Physically able to assist with mobility, toileting, and activities of daily living.
REQUIRED SKILLS: Has the ability to communicate effectively with Friends, team members, co-workers and families. Can read, understand and implement written and oral instruction, perform required documentation, professionally and respectfully participate person-centered meetings and demonstrate competence and knowledge on topics required to safely support the Friends as described in the person-centered service plan.
PREFERRED SKILLS: Effective interpersonal skills, dependable, trustworthy, takes initiative and motivated. Able to relate well in person, on the telephone, and with the general public. Diplomatic, tactful, creative, flexible, resourceful, dependable, well-organize, friendly, emotionally mature and professional. Able to work effectively with multiple supervisors, balance and prioritize multiple requests. Capable and practical in handling complex and/or multi-faceted tasks. Applicants must be able to work independently when necessary, work well with others, possess a positive attitude, read and write well and remain calm during unpredictable situations.
