JOB SUMMARY:

The Nurse is responsible for working closely with program and clinical staff to provide health services for Cenikor clients and staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Complete a Health History and Physical Examination on all clients within 72 hours of admission to the facility.

Consult with staff on pre-admission screenings as needed.

Accurately assess and treat minor client health problems

Ensure the medical clinic is in compliance with program policies and procedures make suggestions for improvements when needed, and manage and operate the medical clinic efficiently.

Ensure specialized medication regimens are adhered to, as required.

Train designated staff to properly supervise client self-administered medication process.

Provide health education for Cenikor clients and staff.

Supervise medical assistant to include training and assisting in completion of duties as required.

Establish positive relationships with physicians and maintain a network of health professionals to assist in providing client medical treatment.

Report potential communicable diseases to the public health authority as required. Oversee disposal and inventory of medication.

Supervise and ensure disposal and inventory of medication.

Uphold the core principles of Cenikor's culture and create a positive working environment for all team members.

Maintain strict confidentiality on all client and foundation matters and refer questionable issues to your supervisor.

Perform additional duties as assigned and consistent with the non-exempt functions as defined in this job description.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Knowledge of pharmacology as it relates to individuals with substance abuse and mental health disorders.

Knowledge of the therapeutic community philosophy preferred.

Excellent assessment and communication skills.

Experienced in providing medical care to a diverse ethnic and cultural population.

Possesses good time management skills needed to meet aggressive deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office software required, including specific MS Outlook calendar experience.

Patience, perseverance, and resilience in a challenging environment.

Excellent documentation skills.

Education:

High School Diploma or GED

Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Experience:

Minimum of three (3) years nursing experience preferably in providing care for individuals with alcohol and substance abuse, mental health and chemical dependency treatment.

Experience with electronic health record preferred.

Licensure Required:

Current licensure as LPN or Nurse Practitioner

Current certification in CPR and First Aid
