Requisition ID: 164029Position SummaryThe Electrician apprentice is learning all tasks and/or working under the direction of an experienced craft worker to plan, lay-out, install, test and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, motors, equipment and control systems in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes and industry standards.Experience LevelSemi-SkilledPrimary Responsibilities and Duties Install, maintain, test and repair electrical distribution and transmission systems, including conduits, cables, wires, and related equipment, such as transformers, circuit breakers, and switches. String wire conductors and cables between poles, towers, trenches, pylons, and buildings, setting lines in place and using winches to adjust tension. Open switches or attach grounding devices to remove electrical hazards from disturbed or fallen lines or to facilitate repairs. Climb poles or use truck-mounted buckets to access equipment. Place insulating or fireproofing materials over conductors and joints. Identify defective sectionalizing devices, circuit breakers, fuses, voltage regulators, transformers, switches, relays, or wiring, using wiring diagrams and electrical-testing instruments. Excavate and drill holes to erect and maintain structuresQualifications May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area. Must possess knowledge skills and abilities for position Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision Field experience in chosen craft discipline Knowledge of the safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools and layout tools.Requirements Able to meet all physical requirements. Must have all required tools Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft) Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
