POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the AVP of Information Security /CISO, the Lead Cyber Security Engineer provides cyber security operations support to the Department of Information Technology (IT). Serving as the Lead for a dynamic team of security analysts, the position is responsible for Cyber Security operations management; Cyber Security Architecture development; Cyber Security policy, procedures and training development, as well as oversight and management of all incident response activities. The position also serves as the Cyber Security liaison to customers requiring specialized cyber security support.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma/Equivalent and four years' cyber security experience to include incident response experience, plus two years' IT operations experience including windows and Linux operating systems, server administration; networking and/or software development.
  • Current GIAC Certification.


  • REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES TYPICALLY NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY:
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with ability to communicate verbally and in writing with both non-technical end-users and technical staff.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all required certifications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to quickly learn and easily adapt to new technologies, e.g., risk management and security control frameworks; advanced level cloud architecture development, etc.
  • Highly proficient security control implementation and testing skills.
  • Excellent policy and procedure development skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills; ability to provide highly efficient technical support to both technical and non-technical customers.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to multi-task and adjust to rapidly changing priorities in order to address/resolve the most critical/sensitive issues in a timely manner.
  • Excellent leadership and staff supervisory skills.
  • Ability to conduct highly technical risk assessments and produce clear, concise written reports in accordance with established policies, procedures and timelines.
  • Familiarity with various cyber security regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with secure application development techniques, pen testing and/or computer forensic techniques.


  • PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Cyber Security Architecture development experience.
  • Multiple advanced level IT systems or applications certifications.
