Description We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for a Billing Clerk to join our team in Gorham, Maine. As a Billing Clerk, you will play a critical role in the Healthcare/NHS industry, ensuring the efficient and effective collection of outstanding balances while maintaining a high standard of customer service and relations.Responsibilities: Manage incoming calls from patients, answering any queries regarding their accounts and charges. Be proactive in reaching out to patients with outstanding balances. Undertake the responsibility of posting payments. Assist patients in establishing payment plans. Dispatch monthly statements. Collaborate with the debt collection agency and transfer accounts on a monthly basis. Aim to keep receivable aging balances under 90 days. Audit and rectify accounts with credit balances. Update patient records with any changes in address before the next round of statements. Uphold and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights under HIPAA guidelines. Perform any other duties as assigned. Requirements Proficiency in Accounts Receivable (AR) is essential. Must have prior experience in contacting patients regarding billing issues. Able to effectively manage and track outstanding balance. Demonstrated ability in facilitating bill payment processes.
