Located in Portland, Maine in the heart of the city's Old Port, Venas Fizz House exudes a quintessential turn-of-the-century charm that lures visitors from around the world. Venas Fizz Houses interior brick walls, arched entry-ways, and cozy copper bar evokes the nostalgia of days gone by. We are no ordinary bar. We offer a wide variety of drinks for the whole family from botanical-infused fizzes to mocktails and cocktails.

Venas mixology retail shop offers an extensive array of craft beverage products where we encourage our customers to dabble in the art of mixed drinks. We proudly produce our own line of bitters, spirit infusions and syrups which we use in our drinks and sell in our retail shop and online.

General Purpose:

Plan, direct and oversee all bar/retail operations including managing staff, ensuring product and service standards are met and implementing and maintaining procedures for maximum operating efficiency.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

determine staff needs performance manage staff create bartender and employee schedules communicate company policy, standards and procedures to staff ensure staff operate within company policies maintain stock levels and order supplies when necessary address customer inquiries and complaints handle complaints, conflicts, questions, and suggestions from restaurant employees ensures opening and closing procedures and checklists are followed regularly oversee the preparation and presentation of beverages to meet set standards monitor cleanliness and hygiene of bar area promote and practice compliance with fire, health, safety and hygiene standards and regulations oversee accurate cash-up procedures and ensure necessary paperwork is complete continued management of POS system and make necessary updates monitor bar supplies and replenish and make as needed, syrups, infusions, etc make certain all deliveries are checked in correctly check stock is correctly rotated and stored to reduce wastage oversee the bar display to maximize functionality and attractiveness implement improvements for products and service maintain regular communication with staff and management through meetings and discussions stay current with relevant legislation regarding service of alcohol, sale of tobacco and licensing oversee retail mixology shop inventory, merchandising and processes
