Part-Time Delivery Driver / Warehouse help
Avg. Hours/Week: 12-16 hrs/wk
Hourly Wage: $16.00 – $17.00
O’Brien Hardwoods supplies local contractors, woodworkers, boatbuilders and hobbyists with domestic and imported rough-sawn hardwood lumber and cabinet grade and marine grade plywood. Currently we offer delivery throughout the entire state of Maine and we are looking for a quality individual to step up as our delivery driver on a part time basis to start. It is anticipated that this job will convert to a full-time position once the delivery routes are established and will also consists of learning about the hardwood lumber industry as well as aiding with the day-to-day operations in the warehouse when not actively driving. You will represent our company in a professional and cost-effective manner to increase our profitability and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
Help plan and execute delivery activities, including:
helping to prepare delivery loads
following planned delivery routes
off-loading materials at designated delivery site
Complete logs and reports
Collect payments
Inform customers about new products and services
Maintaining cleanliness and standard maintenance of delivery vehicles
Observing company safety procedures and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
Occasional coverage of retail sales at O’Brien Hardwoods
Requirements:
Morning & afternoon availability two days a week (likely Thursday & Friday; days may be negotiable)
Physical ability to move large, bulky and/or heavy items
Ability to operate a forklift (or aptitude and willingness/ability to learn)
Physical ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform job duties
Valid State of Maine Driver’s License with a clean record
Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction).
Minimum 21 year of age
Excellent communications and customer service skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
High school degree
Part-time Worker Compensation:
Hourly pay: At the rate stated above, paid bi-weekly
O’Brien Hardwoods Discount: OBWI employees pay just 10% above cost for lumber at O’Brien Hardwoods.
Earned Paid Time-Off: Employees begin accruing PTO upon date of hire and may accrue up to 80 hours annually. This time may be used to cover vacation time, sick days, or personal time. Employees accrue PTO at a rate of .0417 hours of PTO for every 1 hour worked (just over 1.5 hours per 40-hours worked).
