Full Job Description
We are seeking a Cheesemonger Extraordinaire to work with our team and help customers with their shopping needs, checking them out at the register and re-stocking shelves as deliveries come in.
You:
Outgoing extrovert that loves the attention of eager food lovers.
Cooks at home with specialty products and can give sound cooking advice to our guests.
Mark of a pro, clean as you go.
Enthusiastically communicate with staff and customers.
Must have a basic knowledge of wine.
Are passionate about specialty foods and love learning about new and exciting products.
Are knowledgeable in all things cheese and charcuterie-related: production, history, and taste; cheese and drink pairings.
Are customer service focused with a friendly, informative, and respectful sales demeanor.
Must have a minimum of 2 years industry knife skill experience
Can lift upwards of 30lbs.
Can perform basic mental math- familiarity with the metric system preferred.
Basic Responsibilities:
Maintaining standard FIFO rotation, inventory, and informing management.
Setting up and maintaining the cheese and meat counter displays.
Cutting, preparing, and wrapping pre-cut and to-order cheeses, meats, and Prepared Foods; weighing, packaging, and labeling as needed.
Creating cheese and meat platters for catering orders.
Maintaining a spotless workspace and equipment in compliance with DOH regulation as well as rigorous internal health and cleanliness standards.
Answering questions about catering, cheese care, and other customer concerns in a friendly way.
Checking customers out at the register as needed.
Maintaining the display of goods – fronting and facing retail products, dusting, cleaning, rearranging displays as necessary.
