Caretaker with Carpentry Background Wanted: Help Build the Future of Camp Medolark – Full-Time, On-Site Role in Maine!

Location: Camp Medolark is a vibrant co-ed overnight summer camp for ages 8-15 in Washington, Maine

Position Type: Full-time, year-round (live on-site in our Farmhouse)

Start Date: TBD; January-February 2026 with move-in by March 1, 2026

Compensation: $70,000–$125,000 salary (performance bonuses + free housing, camp vehicle & gas, 3 meals/day in summer, and free camp sessions for your kids, nieces, nephews, or relatives + health insurance

If you're a skilled carpenter with a passion for community and a knack for fixing things, Camp Medolark invites you to make it your home. This full-time, on-site role in Maine offers total autonomy to build something lasting, free from red tape and micromanagement. Since 1967, our co-ed overnight camp, nestled on a beautiful 3-mile lake, has been a summer home where kids grow, laugh, and discover themselves. Under new management, we're seeking a passionate Caretaker with carpentry expertise to join the Medolark family, maintain our facilities, and help shape our next chapter. What You’ll Do

Keep our camp in top shape year-round with maintenance, repairs, carpentry projects (e.g., cabin upgrades, deck builds), and equipment/grounds upkeep.

Handle basic plumbing and electrical fixes to keep things running smoothly.

Work with our current Maintenance team to prepare for summer campers and off-season growth.

Take pride in creating a safe, welcoming space for kids and staff, solving problems proactively.

Help with vendors, contractors for larger repairs, inspections, while managing inventory of tools and materials.

What We’re Looking For

Skills:

Carpentry: 5+ years of professional carpentry/building experience (rough/finish work, tool expertise).

Plumbing & Electrical: Basic repair and troubleshooting skills.

Equipment maintenance and groundskeeping experience.

Valid driver’s license (for camp vehicle use).

Must be willing to live onsite year-round

Experience: 5+ years in professional contracting, facilities maintenance or equivalent.

Qualities:

Responsible, self-motivated, and thorough—ready to own your work.

Honest, proactive, and collaborative, able to work well with others.

Ability to eventually help lead a small crew of summer employed maintenance staff

Passionate about camp life and MOL’s values of community, growth, and fun.
