POSITION SUMMARY:

This position may be assigned to perform in a lead role over the other technicians, seasonal workers, and contractors retained by the City. Schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Must reside within 45 minutes from the Service Center located at 821 N. Columbus Avenue.

The ideal candidate will have a Journeyman's Electricians License issued by the state of Oregon. Journeyman Level Electrician working independently performing a wide variety of skilled and journeyman level duties for municipal buildings and park facilities. Knowledge of installation and maintenance electrical systems, HVAC systems, building automation control systems, found in commercial and public buildings. Advanced knowledge of electrical equipment and distribution systems and related installation practices. The successful candidate will be required to obtain a General Supervising Electricians License issued by the state of Oregon within 18 months of employment.

Typical Job Duties:

These duties are a representative example; position assignments may vary depending on the business needs of the department and organization. This positions duties (but not limited to) may include:

Performs high level corrective and preventative maintenance and repairs to City buildings, facilities and parks.

Installation, inspection, maintenance and repair of: electrical systems, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, building automation control systems, operation of boilers, chillers and generators, locksmith duties, pool and fountain operations, etc.

Inspection, repair and maintenance of aquatic facilities as a back-up resource when necessary.

Identifies and assesses maintenance and repair needs and takes appropriate action to resolve issues.

Assists with developing preventative maintenance schedules, and participates in long-range equipment replacement strategies and budgeting.

Places material and supply orders for maintenance and repair projects.

Scope of assigned area will depend on departmental and/or citywide operational structure and is at the discretion of the Supervisor.

Upholds the values of the organization and has strong customer service orientation.

Must have the ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with others in the workplace.

Must be honest and truthful in all tasks and responsibilities.

Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

Demonstrates regular, reliable and punctual attendance.

Job Qualifications:

Five years of progressively responsible building and facility operations, maintenance and repair experience; and

Graduation from high school.

Current technical/professional knowledge of complex principles, methods, standards and techniques associated with the scope of work of a recognized profession, such as:

Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.

Desired, not required:

Oregon State General Supervising Electrician License (ability to obtain within 18 months of hire date)

Building Operation Certificate

Oregon Boiler Operators Certificate

Oregon Journeyman HVAC/R

Forklift Operators Certificate

Requires possession of a valid driver's license by date of hire. New employees establishing resident status in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon driver's license within 30 days (ORS 807.020 (1)).

Requires completion of a background investigation to the satisfaction of the City.
