General Description: Key position with responsibilities that include, but are not limited to:

• Performs general repair, maintenance and replacement of sailboat rigging and sail systems.

• Steps and un-steps masts.

• Tunes masts

• Rigs and de-rigs masts, sails and running rigging components.

• Swages and splices lines.

• Maintains and repairs winches.

• Diagnoses basic DC electrical components.

• Performs basic instrument and electrical installations.

• Performs inspections and trouble shoot problems. Completes inspection check lists. Provides recommendations for problem resolution based on inspections in writing and verbally to the Yard Foreman, Service Manager and customers.

• Researches and identifies parts necessary for job and submits parts list to parts clerk for ordering.

• Operates forklift, swager and a variety of power tools.

• Maintains awareness of and consistently practices safe work habits.

• Maintains cleanliness on projects both during and after job completion.

• Performs heavy lifting, climbing and carrying during job process.

• Performs effective and timely completion of projects.

• Maintains updated knowledge of products, industry trends and methods.

• Communicates with manufacturers for technical help.

• Assists other departments when necessary. Performs related duties assigned or as the situation dictates.

Work Experience Required:

• Working knowledge and experience with sailboat rigging repair, maintenance and replacement.

• Ability to comprehend and utilize technical service manuals and use them to facilitate repair and maintenance.

• Capacity to work as a member of a team or by oneself to achieve desire results

• Understand basic DC circuitry.

• General boat repair knowledge and experience is a plus.

• Strong customer service skills.

• Current driver's license.

• Unlimited or unimpaired ability to walk, bend, stoop, climb, lift 50 lbs and work safely around water, on a ladder or in confined spaces.

• Basic computer skills.

• Must have sailing experience.

• Must have personal tools.

Education Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Marine trade school is a plus.
