The Service Integrity and Restoration Engineer has responsibility for UScellular's wireless services integrity, health and operational state of our network that carry these services. This includes rapid restoral of operations in the event of a service impairment. This position is responsible to support existing and new emerging services and maintenance of the network elements across our Data Centers (DCs), Regional Connectivity Centers (RCCs), Carrier Hotels (CHs), and Local Connectivity Centers (LCCs). This includes the IMS and Signaling Core, 5G SA Core, 4G LTE EPC Core, Virtualized Mobile Core, Subscriber Services and Messaging, Prepay, Lawful Intercept, 911 Emergency Services, and the Wide Area Network (WAN) and it's interconnecting circuits!

  • Participate in outage restoration efforts for severity 1, 2, 3 and Severity (Sev) 1-IM incidents for customer impacting issues. This will be within a 24x7 working environment. Monitor, maintain, and operate the national network infrastructure (Data Centers/RCCs/LCCs). Will be in order to meet network availability and reliability objectives to ensure the products and services UScellular provides operate as designed.
  • Utilize best/top practices standards to provide operational support for all voice, data, Prepay, WAN, signaling, wireless data connectivity and service delivery platforms/network for 1xCDMA, LTE/VoLTE and emerging technologies, aka the 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G networks. Use key performance indicator metrics to measure overall results. Then develop improvement and remediation plans. Use existing tools and methods that identify issues preemptively to minimize impact to customers and services.
  • Assist in the development of best/national practice network and organizational processes, procedures and playbooks. Those will allow the team to function more efficiently and productively. Responsible to ensure proper tracking, reconciliation, inventorying, and disposal of capital assets (fixed assets). These are per all defined Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls for LCC, RCC, and DC fixed assets as applies!

Bachelor's Degree (Electrical Engineering, IT, CS or related field) or equivalent work or military experience. Minimum of 6 years overall experience in wireless telecommunications, data networking, or operations. Minimum experience of 4 to 6 years using performance indicators to measure the overall results. Then using those to develop remediation and improvement plans.

Qualified candidates should have experience using Tableau and other visual analysis platforms. This is to develop and handle Key Performance Indicators' for the end-to-end network performance. Great foundation in aptitude (technical) in critical areas such as 5G Core, 4G/LTE, data networking, programming languages, tools, analytical and automation practices.

Qualified candidates will have experience in the following environments: IP, routing, signaling, server administration in virtual and non-virtual environments, application, packet technologies, LAN switching signaling, QoS, VoIP, carrier grade data centers and 1xCDMA and LTE network technologies. Experience in software development is desired; especially focus in areas of Agile and DevOps is helpful. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Travel required.
