Professional Estimator job description
The role of the professional estimator is to meet with customer(s) that have requested an estimate for painting and/or carpentry work to be done. Estimators typically meet with potential customer(s), face-to-face, at the location where the work is to be done. The estimator may prepare painting & carpentry proposals for such diverse structures as houses, decks, fences, and businesses.
Excellent customer service skills, knowledge of the painting industry, home repair, and light carpentry are required. Knowledge of QuickBooks is a plus. The estimator must have schedule flexibility, their own transportation, and be able to follow directions and maps.
Job Duties include, but are not limited to:
A professional estimator must have basic computer skills to access the company local network for daily schedules of estimate appointments and jobs in progress. They must be able to multi-task between: appointments for estimates with customers, preparing and sending proposals in a timely manner, ordering paint and materials, set-up for jobs starting, checking on job progress, emails, communications with the office, and follow up with the customer.
