I represent an architectural firm in Harford County, Maryland.
We have an opening for a BUILDING DESIGNER – INTERN ARCHITECT to join our team.
Under the supervision of the project architect, the DESIGNER will design building projects.
This work experience should fully apply for NCARB architect license intern experience.
PROJECT DESIGN TYPES INCLUDE –- restaurant, religious, gyms, general offices, medical, private schools, factories, high hazard, child day care, nursing home, retail display, single-family home, townhouses, assisted living, group homes, hotels, factory and storage.
BUILDING SYSTEMS DESIGN WORK INCLUDE -– exterior building shell, site-work, site utilities, landscaping, interior building shell, cabinets & countertops, room finishes, structural sub-grade, foundations, structural frame, hvac, electrical power, lighting, telecom, fire alarm, fire sprinkler, & plumbing.
PROJECT PHASES INCLUDE – existing conditions survey (10%), programming (1%), site analysis (7%), schematic design (20%), design development (30%), construction documents (30%), building permit application (1%), & construction administration
(1%).
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Worker needs some knowledge of construction.
Worker needs documentation from the federal government giving them a right to work in the USA. A student visa, work visa or citizenship meets this requirement.
Worker needs an ability to visit a building site performing as-built survey of the existing conditions.
Worker needs an ability to walk up steps and ladders.
Worker needs an ability to process simple math using feet, inches, and fractions.
Worker needs an ability to use 2-d autocad software.
Worker needs good social, oral, and writing skills to communicate with the public and other project team members.
Worker needs a clean criminal record with no felony convictions for robbery, burglary, or fraud.
