The University of Maryland Marlene & Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center (UMGCCC) is seeking an Accounting Analyst to handle clinical trials receivable and payable functionality, including invoicing for study subject visits, pass through and administrative fees, reconciliation of payments, collection of old receivables, and paying study-related Faculty Physicians, Inc. (FPI) and hospital bills.The UMGCCC is a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center which conducts innovative basic and clinical research that will impact the understanding and treatment of cancer around the world and seeks to provide state-of-art clinical care to cancer patients in Maryland and beyond. Private, foundation, and government sponsors provide funding to the Cancer Center to provide medical research treatment to cancer patients. The Accounting Analyst is necessary to ensure accurate accounts payable and receivable for these clinical trials.UMB offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package to eligible employees. Generates and forwards invoices to sponsors for payments. Applies knowledge of accounting practice to area of specialty to assure that transactions are properly handled.

Reconciles clinical trials’ accounts to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted.

Verifies discrepancies and resolves sponsors’ billing issues. Uses independent judgment to determine acceptable options to resolve.

Processes approved clinical research and patient bills for payment.

Prepares and/or reviews reports to accurately convey results in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

Provide leadership to others working in same accounting specialty.

Maintains financial historical records by filing documents. Examines a variety of documents for completeness, internal accuracy and conformance with uniform accounting principles.

Interprets results of accounting reports to others. Prepares reports, spreadsheets, graphs, charts and related documents to convey accounting information.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelors in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.Experience: Two (2) years of experience with a working knowledge of an accounting specialty area, such as collections, payroll, accounts payable/ receivable, etc.Other: May consider a combination of directly related experience and education.
